Amsterdam, Netherlands — Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, has announced the launch of its VeriSight Pro 3D Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE) catheter in Europe. This innovative device brings real-time 3D imaging inside the heart, offering physicians greater precision during procedures—without the need for general anesthesia.
Groundbreaking Imaging from Within the Heart
The VeriSight Pro 3D ICE catheter features a miniaturized ultrasound probe embedded at the tip of a slim, steerable catheter. Doctors can guide it through the blood vessels and into the heart chambers, where it captures detailed 2D and 3D images in real time.
This breakthrough provides clear, high-resolution imaging directly from inside the heart, allowing for more accurate decision-making during structural and electrophysiological heart procedures. It eliminates the need for more invasive imaging methods, reducing risks and improving patient comfort.
Improving Patient Care
The catheter is designed for use in procedures such as transcatheter valve repair and left atrial appendage closure. Because it does not require general anesthesia, it supports a safer and more efficient approach to treating structural heart disease.
“With VeriSight Pro 3D ICE, we now have the ability to see detailed cardiac anatomy from inside the heart in real time,” said Professor Dr. Jörg Hausleiter of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich, Germany. “This helps streamline our workflows and makes complex procedures more accessible to patients who may not tolerate more invasive imaging approaches.”
Debut at EuroPCR 2025 in Paris
Philips will showcase VeriSight Pro during EuroPCR 2025, taking place in Paris from May 20 to 23. The event will highlight the catheter’s role in improving outcomes for structural heart interventions through several hands-on and educational sessions:
Physician-led symposium: Titled “Advanced Imaging in Structural Heart Disease Interventions” (Tuesday, May 20), this session will feature insights from U.S. and European clinicians using 3D ICE and AI-assisted imaging.
Hands-on training village: Attendees will get practical experience with VeriSight Pro using Mentice simulators, supported by Philips experts and in partnership with Edwards Lifesciences.
Immersive VR launch training: An invite-only program will showcase clinical workflows for left atrial appendage occlusion and tricuspid valve edge-to-edge repair (TV TEER), using virtual reality headsets for live procedure simulations.
These events will give clinicians a closer look at how 3D ICE technology is being used in real-world heart procedures, from imaging techniques and workflow integration to improved clinical outcomes.
