CHICAGO (WLS) — The ABC7 Chicago 6:30 p.m. streaming team learned Tuesday how to respond during an emergency and potentially save lives.
Every year, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals in the United States. This week marks CPR and AED Awareness Week, a time to raise public knowledge about lifesaving techniques.
Dr. Heather Baker, a CPR instructor with the American Heart Association, joined ABC7 Chicago on Tuesday to discuss the importance of CPR and AEDs. Baker is also a survivor who credits CPR with saving her life.
The American Heart Association is promoting its “Nation of Lifesavers” campaign to encourage more people to learn these vital skills.
During the broadcast, Baker demonstrated the two simple steps of Hands-Only CPR that the American Heart Association recommends.
