Hospital Launches Clinic for Pulmonary Hypertension

by Amy

Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani, has launched a first-of-its-kind Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) clinic under its Department of Cardiology, designed to provide comprehensive care including medical, interventional, and surgical evaluation, treatment, and follow-up for patients of all ages affected by PH.

This clinic is notable for its multidisciplinary, collaborative care model involving specialists from cardiology, pulmonology, rheumatology, genetics, obstetrics & gynecology, and neonatology, ensuring a holistic approach to managing this complex condition. It is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools such as right heart catheterization, CT, MRI, lung perfusion scans, and genetic screening to enable early and accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans.

A key highlight of the clinic is its capability to treat complex and rare forms of PH, such as Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH), including offering Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE)—a highly specialized open-heart surgery that is available at only a few centers worldwide due to its complexity. The clinic also provides prostanoid therapy for pulmonary arterial hypertension, including Remodulin therapy, which helps reduce heart strain and improve vascular flow.

By integrating expertise and advanced treatment options under one roof, Kauvery Hospital Vadapalani aims to become a national referral center for pulmonary hypertension, addressing a critical gap in specialized PH care in India. The clinic is now open for consultations and referrals.
